Moments That Hurt x "You Learn" (Track 7/12)

Good grief did this show put Scully through the ringer, am I right??

I love this song in an "it hurts so good" kind of way. The album's title "Jagged Little Pill" comes from this track's pre-chorus: "Swallow it down / What a jagged little pill / It feels so good / Swimming in your stomach / Wait until the dust settles" and speaks to the overall theme of the song: finding peace after the pain has passed, and seeing how all the choices you've made along the way have lead to where you are now.

This is a recurring theme in Scully's life, from "I wouldn't change a day" in "The Field Where I Died" to "What I would have missed" in "all things" and even unto "I want to remember how it all was" in "The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat": for all the agony and loss she has endured, her life would not have been half as rich in joy and discovery if she had made different choices.
